Laura Backman
Director of Admissions
 Laura Backman serves as the Director of Admissions and Marketing for the Eliot Montessori School.
Originally from Barrington Rhode Island, she graduated from Boston University in 1996, and has continued to live in Boston ever since. After graduating, Laura managed a home for young adults with special needs. Subsequently, she worked as a sales and marketing account manager for Boston Beer Company.
Her success in those fields along with her love of education drove Laura to a career in Admissions. She has worked in Admissions at the Bryman Institute, and served as the Director of Admissions and Marketing at Matignon High School, Springfield College’s School of Human Services, and Hebrew College. A firm believer in students’ empowerment in their own educational development, Laura joined the Eliot community in 2005 as the Director of Admissions and Marketing.
In her free time, Laura is a die-hard Red Sox and American Idol fan and loves the beach. She also enjoys fitness training and cycling, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and volunteering her services with the elderly and inner city children.
