Deb Handy Coordinator of the Middle School English & History Teacher
In coming to the Eliot Montessori School,
Deb Handy returned home. She attended
Eliot School as a child when it was part of the
Natick public school system. Those happy years
inspired her to become a teacher, although she
tried other sorts of work before the perfect
opportunity presented itself in Ohio. In
addition to teaching Middle School English at
two wonderful independent schools, Deb Handy
continued graduate studies in the humanities,
delighted in singing with a choir, and raised
her daughter.
After almost twenty years, Deb moved
to Maine, “to be closer to her soul” as a
friend observed. There, she found another
wonderful opportunity teaching in a small
Montessori school. She immersed herself in the
ideas and practices of Maria Montessori until
events called her back to Massachusetts. At
Eliot, Deb has found her professional
home. Here, she teaches Middle School in a
Montessori setting and takes great delight in
every day.
