Jean Ormaza
Art & Computer Teacher
Jean Ormaza teaches Art and Computer at Eliot.
She is an artist and educator with over nine
years of experience teaching students of all
ages. Before Eliot, she taught at the American
International School in Ecuador, the Pembroke
Hill School in Kansas City, Pratt at Munson
Williams, and Hamilton College.
Ms. Ormaza combines Montessori style classroom
environment with traditional art instruction to
allow both choice and independence. Her teacher directed exercises provide
teacher directed exercises providing broad
exposure to skills and experiences. She views
the computer as a tool for “practical life”
and is building the curriculum to equip students
for writing, researching and working with image
and multimedia.
As an artist, Ms. Ormaza works with sound, video
installation, sculpture, and most recently,
video documentary.
