2008-2009 Academic Year

Annual Fund

The Parent Reception on October 18, 2008 will mark the Kick-Off for the 2008-2009 Annual Fund Drive! The Annual Fund is Eliot’s primary fundraising initiative and the proceeds from the Annual Fund are crucial to the operations of Eliot. Why should you support the Eliot Annual Fund?

Your gift directly benefits your children this year!
Eliot is an independent school. So, unlike public schools, we don’t receive any funding from local, state, or federal governments. We rely on tuition and gifts to the Annual Fund to operate our school.
Annual Fund contributions moderate tuition increases!
Your gift to the Annual Fund is tax deductible!
The first question foundations ask when a grant proposal is submitted: “What percentage of your parents give to the Annual Fund?” Foundations view participation in the Annual Fund as an indication of commitment to the school.

2007-2008 Academic Year

Donations to the 2007-2008 Annual Fund totaled $128,396, an increase of 14% from 2006-2007! We are very grateful to Artemis Joukowsky, who issued a Challenge Match in December 2007 which raised more than $32,000, resulting in a match of more than $16,.000!

Eliot again held an on-line auction, Spring Spectacular, in May. The ninety-three items available to bid on included a wide variety of fabulous goods and services, including vacation get-aways to Nantucket and the Sonoma Valley, Red Sox and Patriots tickets, classroom projects, and gift certificates to popular restaurants and local attractions. Bidding was particularly fierce for Head of School for a Day and the Cheese Party form Wasik’s Cheese Shop. The Spring Spectacular Auction netted $13,246 for Eliot operations.

Our parents were also very involved in fundraising efforts. Michele Strauss organized November’s Book Fair, which raised $4,667 for education materials and books for the classrooms. Leslie Burke, Cheryl Miller, and Clare Schmehl organized a Yard Sale in May to benefit Eliot, which raised $2,117 for Eliot. Many thanks to all our parents for their help and support of Eliot’s fundraising initiatives.
