Special Events
Arts Festival Week
The first annual Arts Festival Week was held
successfully in May 2006. A full week of activities is
presented that highlights instrumental and
vocal music and dance performances, artwork by
individuals and class projects, the Spring Concert
and a formal evening of Latin Declamation. In
addition to planned venues, informal and
spontaneous performances by individual students
in the classrooms complement the open house
feeling that embraces the celebration of the arts
at Eliot.
DEAR Day
Drop Everything And Read -- DEAR day
is truly a unique experience that the entire
school enjoys. On that day, students bring in
cuddly animals, pillows, slippers and their
favorite book to read.
Grandparents' & Special Friends' Day
Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day is a way for family and friends to learn about the work done by
our students.
On this day, each child invites their grandparent or a special friend to visit the school for the morning. They visit the classrooms and look at the work that has been going on throughout the year.
Everyone comes together in the gym and students
perform musical presentations and classes put on plays.
Science Fair
This annual spring event is one in which the whole school participates, even the Kindergarteners.
Projects vary from researching birds to "Creating Your Own Wind Tunnel". Everyone is invited to tour the classrooms and the gymnasium to see the students' projects.
Although Eliot is generally non-competitive, the Middle School students talk with "judges", generally volunteer parent and friends of Eliot who have professions in the sciences, about their projects and what they have learned. The judges comment on each project's strengths and weaknesses.
Spring Concerts
The Spring Concert is an all-school celebration of the spring season. The concert takes place at the Sorenseon Center for the Arts, located on the campus of Babson College in Wellesley.
